Privacy policy
The Industrial Strategy Council is an independent non-statutory advisory group set up to develop measures of success for, and assess the progress of, the government’s Industrial Strategy. The Industrial Strategy Council’s secretariat team is based in the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.
This privacy policy explains how we use the personal information we collect. The Council takes privacy seriously and is strongly committed to doing all that it can to protect the personal data it holds.

What information does the Industrial Strategy Council collect about you?
The Council may collect the following information:
- Personal information, including name, age, gender, address, telephone number and email address.
- Information via surveys regarding your personal or professional interests and contact preferences in order to keep you updated about our work.
- If you participate in one of the Council’s surveys, it may retain your information to facilitate further contact with you about the substance of your submission.
- The Industrial Strategy Council holds a contact database comprising the personal information of individuals who have expressed an interest in our work in the past. This is to facilitate communication with them on occasion to provide information about the Council’s most recent activity.
How will the information about you be used?
We will only collect personal information when it is necessary to do so. Where personal data is held, we will ensure that it is handled compliantly. Unauthorised persons shall not have access to it and we will not make any information available for commercial use.
If you provide feedback about the website through a contact form or email address, we will only use this information for the purposes intended. You will not receive any subsequent unsolicited communication.
How long will your information be retained?
The length of time that we may retain your personal information for varies, according to the type of individual whose personal information we have collected, and what their data is being used for.
